Be fully immersed in the splendors of Rome. During this week-long stay in Rome you will enjoy all the highlights that the Eternal city has to offer. Be guided back to ancient times with a stroll through the Roman Forum, Colosseum, Circus Maximus, the Pantheon and to the infamous location where on the Ides of March of 44 BC Julius Caesar was assassinated. Step back into modern times and be treated with a gelato or espresso in one the famous piazzas such as the Piazza Spagna, Navona, and Popolo. Enjoy guided excursions to St. Peter's Basilica, Vatican Museums, Villa Borghese Gallery, Ostia Antica, and Hadrian's Villa in nearby Tivoli. You will have the opportunity to try different typical Roman dishes at each dinner.

Day to Day Highlights

Day 0: Overnight flight to Italy

Day 1: Welcome to Italy: Rome

• Arrive in Rome Fiumicino Airport and meet an Active Italy representative outside the baggage claim area then be transferred to your hotel by private mini-van.
• You may choose to rest and recover from your flight or decide to take easy guided tour of city center.
• Welcome Dinner.

Day 2: Rome

• Enjoy a buffet breakfast to start the day.
• Walk alongside a professional guide for a private tour of the Colosseum and the heart of religious, political and social life in the ancient Rome.The Roman Forum was the main marketplace and business center. You’ll walk on the Via Sacra, and relive a day in the ancient Rome. You’ll see buildings like the Curia Julia, the House of the Vestals or triumphal arches and important temples. You’ll discover the Palatine: the place where according to the legend Rome was founded by Romulus in the 753 B.C. Imperial palaces were later built here so that the word Palatine came to be synonymous with “the palace of the emperor”. Then you’ll go inside the Colosseum, also known as the Flavian Amphitheater, the symbol of Rome.
• Continue on with the walking tour of Piazza Navona, Piazza Campo de’ Fiori, Piazza di Spagna, the Trevi Fountain and the Pantheon.

Day 3: Rome/Vatican City

• Enjoy a buffet breakfast to start the day.
• Transfer by private mini-van to Vatican City
• Morning guided tour of Vatican City including entrances to the Vatican Museum Rooms. and Sistine Chapel. Enjoy an amazing private Vatican tour in one of the largest museums in the world. Vatican Museums contain some of the world’s greatest art treasures. During this walk you’ll see the Pio Clementino Museum with its amazing Octagonal Courtyard, the Gallery of the Candelabras, the Gallery of the Tapestries, the Gallery of the Geographical Maps, the “Stanze” decorated by Raphael and the Michelangelo’ s Sistine Chapel. Then you’ll be inside the St Peter’s Basilica, the most imposing church of Christendom.

Day 4: Rome/Villa d'Este/Hadrian's Villa

• Enjoy a buffet breakfast to start the day.
• Be picked up by your private driver and head to nearby Tivoli for a private guided tour of two UNESCO World Heritage Sites. The Villa d'Este is a 16th-century villa in Tivoli, near Rome, famous for its terraced hillside Italian Renaissance garden and especially for its profusion of fountains. Hadrian's Villa comprises the ruins and archaeological remains of a large villa complex built c. AD 120 by Roman Emperor Hadrian. Return to Rome in the afternoon.

Day 5: Rome/Ostia Antica

• Enjoy a buffet breakfast to start the day.
• Be picked up by your private driver and head to nearby Ostia Antica,one of the best preserved ancient Roman cities in the world! Ostia Antica was founded at the mouth of the Tiber in the 7th century BC by king Ancus Marcius to protect Rome from attacks coming via the sea. Once established, the port took on commercial functions associated with supplying Rome with food. Excavation of Ostia Antica started quite recently in comparison to similar sites like Pompeii and it will give you a get a better idea of how Romans built cities. ​

Day 6: Rome

• Enjoy a buffet breakfast to start the day.
• In the moring you will head on a guided tour of the Museum Capitolini. The museum consist sof two buildings, the Palazzo dei Conservatori and the Palazzo Nuovo, that houses a collection including paintings, sculptures, busts of well-known people of that time and other art work by renowned artists like Caravaggio, Tiziano, Rubens and Tintoretto. One of the main attractions found in this museum is the original sculpture of the Capitoline Wolf. The mansion also features the Ritratto di Carlo I d'Angiò de Arnolfo di Cambio (1277), the first sculpture of a living person.

Day 7: Rome

• Enjoy a buffet breakfast to start the day.
• Option to visit the Villa Borghese Gallery.
• Free afternoon.
•  Farewell Dinner.
